What will the course offer
This course provides candidates with the industry standard to work as a fully qualified assistant swimming teacher, assisting lessons under the direct supervision of an SEQ Level 2 qualified teacher. The course integrates our high quality standards in how to assist the teacher with fun and high quality lessons and ensure candidates are delivering great swimming lessons, teaching children ‘the Becky way’.
Courses are 32-35 hours of guided learning over 4 days-worth of tutor-led contact time on course. In addition, there is an average of 2-3 hours additional home study required over the duration of the course (including reading, worksheets and evaluations).
Our course values the highest amount of practical experience possible and spending time on poolside. This includes a real environment observing, assisting and teaching children’s lessons of a full range of abilities from non-swimmers to advanced as well as peer teaching and stroke analysis wherever possible.
We provide fun, games-based learning in the classroom with limited ‘sit-listen’ as we value learning through interactive, diverse approaches.
Our course provides an orientation around your learning venue with some observation of the lesson programme for your familiarity before you progress into assisting already qualified teachers with lessons, delivering small sections of lessons with support and team teaching with trainee Level 2 teachers too. All supervised by our excellent team of SEQ licenced BAT Tutors, they will support, guide and mentor you along your learning journey to be inspired and confident in your new skills and role.
