What should I expect on a Becky Adlington Training course?
Becky Adlington’s vision is to get more children swimming and, in doing so, she is absolutely passionate about having great swimming teachers to give every swimmer the best experience in the water. Every Becky Adlington Training course offers the highest quality training to become a fully qualified swimming teacher or swimming assistant. Our courses are nationally recognised and approved by the governing body, Swim England.
How much is a course?
A Level 1 Assistant (Swimming) qualification is £350 & a Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification is £650. This cost includes all your registration and assessment costs, all tutor fees and includes all course resources and a Becky Adlington Training t-shirt. We have now developed a Combined Course where you can complete your Level 1 and Level 2 at the same time for a reduced cost of £950.
Where can I find a course near me?
We're always expanding our programme, so please check the website to keep updated. Alternatively, use the enquiry form to tell us where you are based and that you are interested in doing a training course with us too.
I am worried about the level of writing and theory work on the courses, and not sure I can do it all.
Our tutors are carefully selected and trained to be able to create a great learning environment for all people on the course. We understand that people learn at different rates, and that some prefer listening, whereas others prefer doing. Our courses will ensure we find out how best you learn and our tutors will adapt the courses to suit your learning. Please contact us further if you are worried about this prior to booking onto a course.
Do you assist in getting a job as a swim teacher following the course?
Yes, we are in a unique position to help you find work once you have qualified as we run our own Learn to Swim programmes. Our sister companies, Becky Adlington's SwimStars and Total Swimming Academies deliver their programmes in over 60 locations across the UK. Both are expanding, and are always looking for good quality teachers.
What will I learn on the course?
The Level 1 Swimming Assistant Course is really practical and designed to teach you all the skills you need to work alongside a fully qualified teacher. The course will include tips from Becky on how to be a great assistant for swimming lessons and help children swim ‘the Becky way’. The Level 2 Swimming Teacher Course provides you with the industry standard to work as a fully qualified swimming teacher. The course integrates Becky’s top tips on how to deliver fun and high quality lessons whilst ensuring you are delivering great swimming lessons’.
Are there any pre-requisites for the course?
Yes. You need to be at least 16 years old at the start of the course and able to swim - even if it’s only a little way!
In addition, for the Level 2 course, you will need to hold a Swim England Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teacher) or an Swim England Level 1 Award in Teaching Aquatics (or equivalent qualification) certificated after 1994.
Do I need to provide a DBS before attending my course?
Some venues may require that you provide an up to date enhanced DBS before attending, but you will be told about this in advance if needed.
The DBS charge is £57.20 per applicant for Enhanced and Basic Disclosures. When applying for a DBS disclosure, the process should take approximately two weeks from the point of completing your self-registration and submitting all necessary documents.
How long do the courses last?
Our Level 1 Assistant (Swimming) course is 4 days, and our Level 2 Swimming Teacher is 9 days in total. We understand that it can be difficult to commit to 4 or 9 consecutive days, so each course is structured differently to suit everyone.
When will I receive my certificate?
As a Swim England Approved centre, our role once you have completed a course is to then send your work to be internally verified for quality assurance. Once this process is complete, Swim England will send your certificate in the post. If you have already completed a course with us but haven't yet received your certificate, don't worry - this entire process can take up to 12 weeks. For more information, please feel free to contact our team directly on 0330 041 4690.
How long do the qualifications last?
All Swim England qualifications remain valid with no expiry date.
