Name: Moustafa Emara
Job title: Swimming teacher (for Becky Adlington’s SwimStars)
Course completion date: November 2017
What made you want to do the course with Becky Adlington Training?
I chose to do my swimming teacher qualification with Becky Adlington Training because there was the possibility of doing the work-back scheme, which meant I could work back some of the cost of my course by teaching for Becky Adlington’s SwimStars.
I also felt really supported during the application process, which made the whole experience easy and straightforward.
The fact that the programme also uses Becky’s knowledge was a huge deciding factor to go with Becky Adlington Training too, as I was keen to learn some of Becky’s expertise as an Olympic Gold medallist and apply it myself as a teacher.
What was the best thing about the course?
The best thing about the course was how hands-on it was – I loved that the programme wasn’t all theory like I thought it would be. I was doing both my Level 1 and Level 2 to become a fully qualified swimming teacher in 9 days, which meant I got to assist on practical teaching for 7 of those days. I found this to be incredibly useful as enabled me to learn a lot very quickly.
What skills have you gained as a swimming teacher?
Since working as a swimming teacher I’ve gained a lot of skills in the way I teach the children on the programme, as I always make sure lessons are fun and exciting. I've also become more confident in my ability to teach which means I enjoy it even more.
I love the challenge that the job sometimes comes with as well because I feel they help me to continue to improve even further.
